Sarah Ann Gray

On the 12th of September, 1862,  Sarah Ann Gray was born in Victoria, Australia. Her father, Samuel Gray, was 30 years old, and her mother, Elizabeth Heading, was 27. Over the years, Sarah Ann welcomed several siblings into her life—brothers Henry, Samuel, and Charles, and sisters Bessie, Eliza, and Eliza Florence—all born in different parts of Victoria and South Australia.

As life went on, Sarah Ann experienced both joy and sorrow. At the age of 17, she married John Edward Ridley in North Adelaide. They had two children together, though sadly their first son, William Edward, passed away in infancy. They also had a daughter, Lynda Adella May, who lived a long life. After 13 years of marriage, John passed away in 1893, leaving Sarah Ann a widow.

Two years later, in 1895, Sarah Ann married William Thomas Slade, and together they had a son named James Henry Gray Slade. Sarah Ann lived through the passing of her parents, saw her children grow, and finally, on the 13th of August, 1924, she passed away in Adelaide at the age of 61.
