INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING SITE

Once you've logged in, the first page you'll come to is the ‘public home page’. This page explains what the site is about and the three main parts of it. From there you can choose either to download Christie’s book (once complete), start exploring the family tree or view the video. The text on this page is a work in progress.

Scroll down further to start exploring some of our family ancestors. Select one of the names from the top surnames list and that will take you to another page that has a full list of people by that surname. You'll see in that list of names, what looks like a letter Y on its side. Click that little icon and it will take you through to the family tree associated with that person.

If you want to begin by just having a look at John’s or Gwen’s family trees, go to the very top of the first page, menu on black, click on either John's name or Gwen’s name will take you  to their family trees at that level (Ancestors and Descendants). A couple of things worth noting at that level is that when you hover your mouse over one of the people in the tree, you'll see it brings up other information about them. You'll see that there's also a link with them in there so you can go to other people. You'll see on the right or lef) side there's a yellow arrow, if you click on those it'll take you to another level of their family tree.  And looking at the tabs at the top of the page, you can see your other Ancestors tab, but you can then click on the Descendants tab, the Individual tab, Family and so forth. When you select Ancestors in that line of tabs, you'll see in the next level down there's now a Ahnentafel tab, which combines photographs and text in a pseudo-narrative form.

It's a very powerful app, it's quite extraordinary what you can do with it. For example, once you log in, have a look at this page https://undergrove.net/showmedia.php?mediaID=1639  You can tag individuals on the page so when you hover your cursor (or tap once on a tablet) it shows you the names. If you then hit that link (double tap on tablet) it takes you through to their page for more information about them. BTW That is the only photograph that I've come across of my parents and both sets of grandparents (taken in their Grove Street wedding reception).
